Second edition of the FAMOUS Labs in Athens, Greece. FAMOUS Labs are training workshops on management and sustainable tourism promotion through smart technologies intended for public and private tour operators.  The Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO will be the host of this lab, as a reference authority in Europe in heritage management and cultural policies. 

Third meeting of the FAMOUS consortium (Nicosia)

The seven partners of MovieTravel are meeting in Nicosia (Cyrprus) to continue discussing the development of the FAMOUS project. Having selected the destinations and festivals that will be part of MovieTravel pilot test, now it’s time to settle a common, internationally-based strategy to assure the dissemination and implementation of our action plan.

Press conference at B-Travel show (Barcelona)

On Friday 22 March we will be giving a press conference at the tourism fair B Travel Show to present the Spanish destinations with UNESCO heritage that will be part of our movie tourism routes across Europe. The press conference will take place in the B-Travel Cinema area and will feature the participation of the executive director of the Catalan Tourism Board, Patrick Torrent, and representatives of the selected destinations and festivals.

Our representatives will be at panel discussion 5 of the Showcase Conference on Tourism in Brussels telling the world why sectoral transversality is in the DNA of MovieTravel. We will also discuss how EU projects can survive beyond their funded period. Our strategy? Involving SMEs, training stakeholders and working in international communication and networks.

MovieTravel at FITUR (Madrid)

The Spanish partner of MovieTravel, the communication agency Inmedia, will disseminate why cinema, tourism and heritage make such a strong partnership among their representatives in FITUR (Madrid).  We will also follow up the speeches and round-tables of FITUR’s section devoted to screen tourism.

Regione Liguria will be representing the MovieTravel project in the Partnership in European Tourism (PET) sessions that will take place on 15 November 2018. The Shanghai edition of PET supports EU tourism business and operators interested in entering the Chinese and American markets.

Meeting of the FAMOUS consortium

30-31October 2018

Meeting of the FAMOUS consortium. The FAMOUS consortium will meet in Barcelona to continue developing the contents of the project. Taking as a reference the preliminary market study carried out by the University of Malta, the consortium will discuss about the best way to manage the potential that all the countries involved in the project have as a screen tourism destination. The 8 entities involved in MovieTravel will also have the chance to exchange the views expressed by the stakeholders of the project in the six countries involved, as well as the feedback received from administrations and DMOs that have shown interest in the culture-based tourism experience that MovieTravel puts forward.

Seminar: “Movie induced tourism, a phenomenon of the 21st century”

Seminar: “MOVIE INDUCED TOURISM, A PHENOMENON OF THE 21ST CENTURY” organized by MovieTravel and University Pompeu Fabra. MovieTravel and University Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona (UPF) will join forces in a seminar intended to tackle the phenomenon of screen tourism from a solid academic perspective. The seminar includes both a lecture turn and a round table in which different professionals of the tourism and cinema industries will discuss about movie tourism management.

In the first part of the session, the head of the university’s Communication department, José Fernández Cavia, will outline the role of UPF in communication research of tourist destinations. Afterwards, different members of MovieTravel will explain their role, functions and responsibilities in the project. The event will also feature the presence of Mr. Allan Vella, project manager at European Commission, and Carlota Guerrero, manager at the Catalonia Film Commission. Both the speeches and the round table are open to the general public.
